Go Read Something Else

Jun 15,2012
I'm not doing one this week; instead I chose to promote the entertaining and informative blogs of human beings of my personal acquaintance. I'm only promoting three because, actually, most of the folks I thought had blogs that I liked seem to have stopped doing them, and had the URLs expire in the time it took me to get around to clicking on my bookmarks. It just goes to show that if you don't stop to smell the roses, they might end up on you. (Hüsker Dü wouldn't have sung it if it weren't true.) So here goes.

Kevan 3I've known this man for ages, since we used to work together at a dismal conversation school in a faraway prefecture. He's since moved back to his native Australia to raise a child with his Japanese wife in a house of their own design. We even used to mail each other a sketchbook where we'd take turns filling in a page, so you know he's got something creative brewing over there. It's a very family-oriented blog.

short, small & sweetShe's a local friend here in Tottori and her blog mostly concerns very local events, in crisp photographic detail and sometimes quite witty and poignant commentary. She says she recently found my by accident. What are the chances? Let's repay the karma.

Natural Beauty and Awesome Food! This buddy hasn't updated his travels in quite some time because he's out of the country at the moment, but he'll be back--and it's worth reading back updates for some peculiar sights off the beaten path. He made a brochure of his choice sites in Central Tottori, which is available at your local TPIEF office free for the taking, if you want to know what a particular twentysomething from small town America recommends around here. (He also happens to be the lead guitarist in my band.)

That's all I've got for now. I'll come up something else next week.
