Today has been nonstop rain with a subtle briskness, warming from the recent chill and perhaps heralding the beginning of spring. Winter began in January this year and seems to have lasted to the first week of March. Certain trees are blossoming already, but not yet the famous cherry trees. The ground has thawed, and plants taken in may perhaps be returned safely outside.
Of course, all of our young trees, especially the lemons, seem to have been destroyed by the frost because the warm weather through the end of December fooled us into thinking there would be no winter. Don't let this happen to you. Protect your plants and your pets, and remember to use lip balm.
